Many writers and authors start their writing journey by writing short stories or articles or blogging or even by writing a diary.
An author blog however, is different because writing the blog is not the end goal here.
The aim is to communicate and reach out to more and more readers.
Another important reason published authors write a blog is to promote and market their books.
Blogging can also help authors to talk about themselves thus driving more traffic to their blog, which in turn means readers relate to them more.
Authors can also use blogging to communicate with other writers and provide a reliable and credible source for budding authors who need information about how to go about the writing process.
Authors can also get noticed by agents and publishers who may be impressed enough to publish them.
However, blogging comes with its disadvantages. It cuts away into the author's book writing time, keeps them visible to their competitors, leads to no monetary compensation & with so many bloggers out there authors may find it difficult to get traction above others.
Authors who want to create a brand as an author, hone their writing skills, and start developing a market for their books, creating a blog is an inexpensive way to go about it.
