YOUR VOICE YOUR STORY

Hybrid Publisher is a traditional publisher in terms of producing quality books like traditional publishers but has a business model similar to self-publishing where an author contributes to the costs and gets a higher share of the proceeds.

It is a very broad term and each hybrid publisher operates differently. As an author you should do your due diligence before you sign a contract. You should also have a list of questions to ask the publishers you approach:

1. What type of editing services do you provide?

2. In which format will you publish my book?

3. How is the royalty calculated?

4. What are the upfront fees to be paid?

5. What distribution channels do you employ?

6. Do you provide marketing services? Are there any additional charges for those?

7. What is the publishing timeline?

8. Will you provide an ISBN?

Authors should be proactive and ask the right questions. A service provider who is transparent about what they offer isn't doing anything wrong or unscrupulous just because they charge for their services. It's the quality of work that the author needs to be sure of.

Publishing good quality work adds to the credibility and reputation of both the author and the publisher.

So, choose what suits you best!
